Reflections on Grounding Retreat

This weekend was our first ever collaborative retreat! I have never helped lead something like that before so it was a bit daunting initially However, it ultimately felt like a natural extension of LifeDirt's mission to connect our community to nature through food.

I got to help Tanya Trofimencoff (of DNC Wellness) with the planning, and led a workshop about local food and the benefits of embracing "slow food" practices in our daily lives.

Tanya led a session on the five pillars of holistic health and we each led a short guided meditation. We enjoyed a delicious lunch from Station 33 Cafe and went for a mindful walk in nature (yes, we got snowed/hailed on, which was wonderful) and practiced some techniques for slowing down, grounding ourselves and paying attention to what's going on inside and around us.

Over all very enlightening and wonder-filled!

Tanya & I will be planning more retreats in the future, delving into different areas of holistic health (we are likely focusing on healthy relationships and boundaries in the next retreat), and exploring different modalities such as visual art, dance, music and cooking! Each time we will connect it to what we feed our bodies. I am looking forward to getting deeper into these topics with food and connection in mind!

If anyone is interested in future retreats, stay tuned to our newsletter as I'll be announcing them there. I loved working with Tanya on this; she feels like a lifelong friend even though we just met last year the the Hapi Black Market hosted by The Black Rose Nation in Kingston.

Hope you all enjoy this week we're in, and are looking forward to our next round of veggies next week!

Gratefully,

Miriam
