Looking For Local Food This Summer?

Hello all! We have started our summer "break" here at LifeDirt and I know several of you will be taking some time off here and there as well or changing your schedules a bit.

For those who are sticking around and want a convenient way to access local food during the summer, of course our local farmers markets (Queen Square Farmers Market on Sunday mornings and Kingston Farmers Market on Saturday mornings) are wonderful. Fullerton's Corner Market in Kingston is amazing for those of us in that neck of the woods, or if you want a little road trip on a weekend or evening.

However, if getting out there regularly is not in the cards for you, then a seasonal CSA (community supported agriculture) subscription may be a great option.

Majestic Gardens

This small-scale market garden in Quispamsis runs a 20-week CSA that is currently full, however they have a waitlist you can join for when spots open up or when people are taking "vacation weeks" and the farm needs to fill that opening! You can sign up for that waitlist at MajesticGardens.ca

The Grateful Farm

This spray-free farm on Shampers Bluff running a 2-month version of their subscription box program for LifeDirt community members! Boxes are $50 and you can choose from weekly or biweekly options.

Delivery is available to Hampton, Quispamsis, Rothesay, Saint John, Grand Bay, Westfield and the Kingston Peninsula.

Please contact Marc Doucet for more information or to sign up at (506) 607-6916 or farmerdoucet@gmail.com. You can also check out their Facebook page here.

For those who got our large boxes last week, the leaf lettuce was from Marc's farm!

This is not a paid collaboration of any kind, I just wanted to pass along the information for those who have asked about a summer CSA option while we are on pause.

And for those of you growing your own food: all the best!! I'm trying for more of a veggie garden this year myself so we'll see how that goes.
